Solutions for Every Application

Drives and soft starters specified against the duty in front of you — from HDB booster sets to chilled water plant and infrastructure projects.

Application First

The right solution for the right application

A drive is only as good as the application knowledge behind it. The same 22kW unit behaves very differently on a booster set, a cooling tower fan and a conveyor — and the parameter set, the accessories and the protection strategy change with it.

These are the applications we work on most often in Singapore. Each one below covers what typically goes wrong, what we specify, and what the drive is actually there to achieve.

  • Sized against duty, not just motor rating
  • Parameter sets built for the application
  • BMS and controls interface planned up front
  • Local stock on the ratings these duties actually use

Application 01

Pumps

Booster, transfer and pressurisation sets are the single most common VSD application in Singapore, and the one where the payback is easiest to demonstrate. Throttling a valve to control flow is energy you paid for and then threw away as heat and noise.

A drive holds pressure at setpoint with closed-loop PID, sleeps when demand drops overnight, and wakes on a pressure fall. On duty/standby and duty/assist sets, built-in cascade logic runs and alternates the pumps without a separate controller.

  • Closed-loop PID pressure or flow control
  • Sleep / wake to eliminate overnight idling
  • Cascade and alternation on multi-pump sets
  • Dry-run and no-flow protection
  • Controlled ramps to remove water hammer

HVAC & Air Handling

AHU and fan duties spend most of their life at part load, which is precisely where a drive pays for itself. Reducing fan speed produces a disproportionate cut in absorbed power, and the mechanical benefit — no more belt-snapping DOL starts — comes free with it.

The other half of an HVAC job is the interface. A fan drive that can't talk to the head end is a commissioning problem waiting to happen, so we plan the BACnet or Modbus tie-in and the damper interlocks before anything is ordered.

  • BACnet and Modbus interface to the BMS
  • Damper and safety interlock integration
  • Fire-mode and override behaviour configured
  • Belt-friendly ramp rates on large fans
  • Status, speed and fault codes reported to the head end

Application 03

Chilled Water Plant

Chilled water systems are where the biggest numbers live — and where a poorly co-ordinated drive installation causes the most trouble. Condenser water pumps, primary and secondary chilled water pumps and cooling tower fans all interact, and staging them badly costs more than it saves.

We specify drives on these duties with the plant sequence in mind: differential pressure control on secondary pumps, approach-temperature control on tower fans, and staging that doesn't hunt.

  • Primary, secondary and condenser water pump control
  • Cooling tower fan staging and speed control
  • Differential pressure setpoint control
  • Minimum-flow protection on chiller evaporators
  • Integration with the plant sequencing strategy

General Purpose Machinery

Conveyors, mixers, agitators, extruders, compressors and process machinery — constant-torque duties where the drive is there for control and mechanical protection rather than energy saving.

These applications need honest specification. High-inertia loads need brake resistors sized properly. High-cycle duties need the right overload rating. Getting this wrong shows up as nuisance trips six weeks after handover, not on day one.

  • Constant-torque sizing with correct overload rating
  • Brake resistors sized to load inertia and cycle rate
  • Jerk-free acceleration on conveyors and belts
  • Multi-speed and step-reference control
  • Safe torque off where the machine requires it

Infrastructure & Public Sector

Infrastructure work brings a different set of demands: documentation that has to survive scrutiny, traceable product with a real warranty chain, and delivery that holds to a programme with liquidated damages attached to it.

Trans-Digi Global is a GeBIZ-registered supplier and has supplied drives and soft starters into commercial, infrastructure and public-sector projects across Singapore. The paperwork is part of the job, not an afterthought.

  • GeBIZ-registered for public sector procurement
  • Full submission pack — datasheets, drawings, declarations
  • Traceable, genuine product from authorised channels
  • Programme-aware delivery scheduling
  • As-built documentation at handover

HDB & Residential

Residential blocks live or die on booster pump reliability, and residents notice pressure problems long before anyone notices an energy bill. Water hammer on start and stop is the other complaint that generates calls — and it's entirely avoidable.

For HDB and private residential work we specify duty/standby booster sets with cascade control, soft ramps to eliminate hammer, and overnight sleep so the pumps aren't running against a closed system at three in the morning.

  • Duty / standby booster sets with automatic alternation
  • Soft ramps to eliminate water hammer complaints
  • Overnight sleep on low demand
  • Dry-run protection on tank-fed systems
  • Quiet operation in occupied buildings
